Board of Education Vacancy

At the Regular Board of Education Special Meeting held on January 20, 2026, the Board of Education of Arapahoe County School District No. 1 (Englewood Schools) officially declared a vacancy on the Board, effective immediately.
In accordance with state law, the resolution was adopted following a board member’s absence from three consecutive regular meetings. This has created an open director seat that the District now seeks to fill through an appointment process.

Englewood Schools invites interested persons to apply for this leadership role.
- Applications Open: Wednesday, January 21, 2026
- Application Location: Available online at the Englewood Schools Board of Education webpage.
- Submission Deadline: 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Following the application period, the Board will conduct interviews with prospective candidates during a public session of a Special Meeting on February 17, 2026. The Board plans to officially appoint the new director at its Regular Meeting on March 3, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the appointment, applicants must meet the following legal criteria:
- Must reside within the Englewood School District boundaries.
- Must have been a registered elector of the Englewood School District for at least twelve consecutive months prior to the date of appointment.
- Must never have been convicted of a sexual offense against a minor.
- Must submit an affidavit certifying qualification for office along with the application.
Term of Office
The successfully appointed director will serve until the next regular biennial election, which is scheduled for November 2027.
