Superintendent

Superintendent Wendy Rubin, Ed.D.

Dr. Wendy Rubin is passionate about her work as an educational leader. She believes in strong communities, strong academics, and strong public schools. The promise and opportunity that dedicated teachers and committed neighborhood schools offer each and every child is foundational to ensuring that students graduate with robust choices for college and career pathways.

After receiving Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder, Wendy moved to Chicago where she decided a career in education would be much more interesting and satisfying than a career in sales. She returned to school and received her Masters of Education degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from the University of Illinois Chicago as well as her credentials to teach secondary English.

Upon returning to Colorado, Wendy began her career as a middle school English teacher. She then moved into middle school building administration where she spent five years as an assistant principal and seven years as a middle school principal in Jefferson County Schools, before becoming a high school principal in that same district. During her four years at the high school level, Wendy completed her doctoral degree at University of Colorado Denver in the area of Leadership for Educational Equity.

One of things that Wendy finds most exciting and interesting about Englewood is the blend of long-time residents and multiple generations of families combined with the young urban-minded professionals and families moving to Englewood. The binding factor is that they all are committed to their community and their schools. The variety of independently owned businesses and restaurants as well as the City of Englewood’s commitment to the arts and its parks and recreation make Englewood a very desirable place to live, work and learn. Wendy is very thrilled to be able to lead Englewood Schools and fulfill the promise that strong communities and strong schools offer to the future we seek to create for our kids.
