Preschool Students
ECE Summer Camp

Continued development of core social-emotional and higher-order thinking skills in a high-quality, play-based environment Students can sign up for one or both sessions and will explore different science and social studies topics each week. They will garden daily and enjoy water play in addition to typical preschool activities.

PURPOSE: To prepare for the upcoming school year, students in K-6 (school year 2022-2023) are invited to grow academically and socio-emotionally, connect with peers, and build healthy identity formation during summer programming. We will create community, engage in challenges and fun, and learn to grow our brains and hearts. This is one of the ways that Englewood Schools provides additional intentional supports for students who may benefit from additional support to decrease summer learning loss.

Multilingual Learner Language & STEM Camp

WHO: English Language Learners (ELLs) in rising grades 1st-6th

Multilingual Learner Language & STEM Camp is a two hour extension offered to current K - 5 students in the English Language Development program. Multilingual students attending summer school will stay for an extra two hours to participate in hands-on experiences to develop academic language and skills. Curriculum content is based on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) with a focus on developing language skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in English.

Shining Stars Gifted Education Mini-Camp
Shining Stars Gifted Education Mini-Camp
WHO: Gifted Education Students in rising grades 4th-6th by invitation

This “star themed” camp is an extension opportunity for gifted education students, in grades 4-6, to come together for some summer fun. Amber Rundle Kahn, Gifted Education Coordinator will be leading the students this year. Day 1 will take place at Cherrelyn, where we will play table games and outdoor games, complete an art project, and do a mini-research project on famous people (stars) who are gifted! Day 2 will start and end at Cherrelyn, but the bulk of the day will be spent traveling to and attending a Star Talk at the Fiske Planetarium at CU, Boulder.

The Career Pathway Summer Program will offer students a hands-on introduction to various fields and CTE programs including audio/music production, broadcasting and video production, cosmetology, culinary arts, engineering, and urban agriculture/sustainable agriculture and green energy. Breakthrough is an intensive six-week daily summer program that provides rigorous instruction in math, language arts, and science. There is a strong focus on leadership, team building, financial literacy, mental health, and the arts.

WHO: Girls entering the 8th, 9th, or 19th grade (in the 2023-2024 school year) who are interested in pursuing future careers in the STEM fields
WHEN:

WHERE: Girl Scouts Dream Lab (63 N. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80230)
COST: Free (Please note that the Girl Scouts charge a $10 “commitment fee” to reduce no-shows. If you cannot afford the $10 fee, you can select the option for financial assistance at checkout.)
Registration Deadline: May 30, 2023
This free one-week camp is designed for girls entering 8th, 9th or 10th grade (in the 2023-2024 school year) to spark their interest in pursuing future careers in the STEM fields. Participants take part in a variety of educational coding games and activities led by experienced female software developers. Camp Code introduces participants to a variety of women in technology and explores the diverse opportunities available to women who code.

Summer Science Institute
Middle school students (incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th) have the opportunity to explore fun applications
of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an exciting, hands-on, team-oriented atmosphere on the Auraria Campus. Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty will teach classes and prepare students in STEM concepts. This is a two-week, half-day program.
Session Dates:

Session IV: June 20 – June 30
Session V: July 10 – July 14
Times: Morning and Afternoon sessions available.

Teen Citizen's Academy
Englewood Police Department Teen Citizen's Academy
WHO: Students ages 13-18

NEW! Join us for the 2023 Englewood Police Citizen’s Academy. Local teens will have the opportunity to learn all about the Englewood Police Department and the department’s opportunity to create meaningful connections with Englewood teens.
In the academy we will cover everything from traffic stops to crime scene investigation and SWAT response to police technology. This is an interactive, hands-on class and a great place to engage with officers and police staff.
The Academy is comprehensive in scope and covers many different areas of operation such as:
- Crime Scene/Forensic Science
- Code Enforcement
- Overview Criminal Investigation
- Shooting Simulation
- Distracted Driving
- Patrol Procedures
- SWAT Overview
- Fire Inspectors
- Traffic

WHO: High school students who want to catch-up or get ahead
WHEN:

- 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Online or at Englewood High School (3800 S. Logan St.)
COST: $50 for each credit recovery core class. Credit acceleration classes will not have a fee.
Programs will be delivered both in-person and online - families can choose the delivery option that works best for their student. Successful completion of the summer program will allow students the opportunity to receive credit for a class - either recovering credit from a previously failed class or taking a class for the first time. Students may take one course at a time - should they complete a course by June 7, they will have the opportunity to take another core class. All coursework must be completed by 1:00 p.m. on June 15 to receive credit.

WHERE: Online, self-paced Monday thru Thursday. Fridays are in-person at Arapahoe Community College or Community College of Denver.

Explore the fastest growing health occupations in Colorado: Nursing, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Patient Care Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiology Technologist, Sonography Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, and Surgical Technical. Learn about postsecondary certification pathways and career navigation. Get hands-on and virtual job shadow experience. Earn entry-level credentials in Basic Life Support, CPR, and HIPPA. Summer Science Scholars Program
The Center for Advanced STEM Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU
Denver) announces our summer program for rising high school seniors and current seniors,
community college students who are interested in STEM. This three-week full day program of
learning STEM through a research project, exploring university resources is funded in part by
Xcel Energy Foundation, Virginia Hill Foundation and by the Building Identity Leading to
Diversity (BUILD) Project. Priority will be given to students from historically underrepresented
groups.
Dates: June 12 to June 30, 2023
Times: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., M – F (lunch will be provided daily)
Location: Auraria Campus Science Building, Metropolitan State University of Denver
Cost: Free
**$500 Stipend will be provided to participants who attend the full three‐weeks of programming

Junior EHS and CFHSC students are invited to register for four days of college campus exploration and application preparation.
Dates: May 30 - June 2, 2023
Location: Englewood High School Future Center, University of Denver, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; Colorado State University in Fort Collins; University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Cost: Free
Lunch: Included all days
Available Spots: 13 students
Transportation: Transportation to and from Englewood High School is the responsibility of the family. Bus transportation to and from the college will be provided.
