What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Together, these subjects form an intentional learning approach that teaches students more than just subject matter. STEAM education fosters an inclusive learning environment where all students are able to engage and contribute to learning that is relevant and authentic.
As early as Pre-Kindergarten, STEAM education in Englewood Schools helps students to build both technical and creative skills. Students learn how to self-direct, collaborate, problem solve, think critically, and apply their creative skills across a variety of learning experiences.
What Sets STEAM Apart in Englewood Schools?
Many districts offer STEAM experiences in their schools. In Englewood, we take those experiences to the next level with a visionary approach to focusing on three key elements: system-wide alignment of experiences (Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade), accessible design thinking frameworks, and intentional alignment to relevant standards. Through intentional collaboration between teachers, leaders, and coordinators across our PK-12 system, we are creating a STEAM learning experience that not only provides a high level of learning, but also creates skills that will prepare students for high school and postsecondary success.
