Cosmetology & Barbering
This two-year program is designed to teach students theory, hair care techniques including cuts, color, perms, and styling; nail technology and skin care. Students will be prepared to sit for the Colorado Cosmetology state licensing exam. Students also have the option of continuing their education to earn an optional Barbering license.
Grades: 11-12
Prerequisites: Attend REQUIRED orientation meeting: Call Cosmetology Program Coordinator to set up a time if you have not already attended one.
Course Length: 2 yrs plus one required summer. If choose to complete the barbering license, students stay one additional month in the summer.
High School Credits:
Year 1: 3 high school credits per semester
Summer Practicum: 1 high school credit
Year 2: 3 high school credits per semester
College Credits:
Year 1: 16 college credits fall semester 15 college credits spring semester
Summer Practicum: 5 college credits
Year 2: 12 college credits fall semester; 12 college credits spring semester
Fees:
Year 1: $650.00 (includes cosmetology kit, uniform, lab fee, professional membership dues, and student workbook)
Year 2: $75.00 (lab fee and professional membership dues)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30-11:30 am OR 12:00-4:00 PM
Cosmetology students are REQUIRED to attend the summer session between years 1 and 2 during the month of June, Mon-Thurs 7:30-5:30. Barbering students are required to attend the summer session following the cosmo 2 program.

- Upon Acceptance into the program, a student must attend New Student Orientation. Dates and times will be provided by the instructor.
*Through the Cosmetology program, students are prepared to take the Colorado Cosmetology Licensing Exam. Successful completion of the license can be used toward Englewood graduation requirements. Certification exams must paid for and scheduled independently.
