Englewood Public Schools is committed to providing equitable access to our web content for individuals with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Section 504 requires us to ensure that persons with disabilities seeking information or services from us have access to and use of information and data comparable to that of persons who are not individuals with disabilities unless an undue burden is imposed on us. To meet this commitment, we consistently audit our web pages to meet or exceed the Section 504 standards.

Information Regarding HB21-1110 Colorado Laws for Persons with Disabilities

Under the Colorado Anti-discrimination Act (CADA), it is unlawful for any person to discriminate against an individual with a disability. House Bill 21-1110 expands this prohibition by defining discrimination to include two standards:

It is discrimination to exclude an individual with a disability from participation in or being denied the benefits of services, programs, or activities provided by any Colorado government entity.
It is discrimination for any Colorado government entity to fail to develop an accessibility plan by July 1, 2022, and to fail to fully comply with accessibility standards developed by OIT by July 1, 2024.

The new language specifically applies to accessibility of government information technology and expands the state's accessibility standards to include all individuals with disabilities, as defined by the ADA, instead of just people with vision problems.

Additionally, Englewood Schools has made the following commitments to ensure compliance with regard to HB21-1110:

Englewood Schools is contracted with a website vendor, Finalsite, to create a website that is accessible and has accessibility alert and redress features in the event of inaccessible content.
FinalSite contains embedded features that alert staff to inaccessible content and demonstrate how to make the content accessible.
Englewood Schools utilizes GrackleSCAN to scan the website and provide accessibility feedback for remediation.
Englewood Schools is in the process of fixing all issues reported by GrackleSCAN, and will continue to do so through monthly audits of our website.
Englewood Schools will provide accessible options, upon request, of any PDF and/or other documents posted on the website to ensure compliance.

Englewood Schools has included an Accessibility Statement on its website to allow users to report any accessibility issues to Englewood Schools and to request accommodations.

Staff Training

Englewood Schools will provide in-depth training to building and department designees to train their staff on accessibility and be a resource for accessibility questions and issues.
Englewood Schools will require current and new staff who create content to complete an annual Accessibility training through Public School Works, our internal training module system.

Application/Digital Resource Compliance

Englewood Schools will use LearnPlatform for all application requests.
Englewood Schools will send a vendor HB21-1110 Accessibility form to all current vendors and to all new vendors prior to contract/use approval.
Vendors will need be in compliance with HB21-1110, or Englewood Schools will complete Undue Burden, Fundamental Alteration, or Direct Threat/EEAAP (form coming soon).

New Document and Other Digital Resource Compliance

Englewood Schools has put out requests to contract with a vendor for assessment and remediation of documents.
Englewood Schools will use Grackle Workspace for all documents created in Google Workspace for Education.
Englewood Schools will use CommonLook PDF for remediation of PDF documents.
Englewood Schools will explore third-party partnerships for bulk PDF remediation as an additional remediation and compliance tool.

Within a reasonable time after receipt of the issue/request, a member of our team will contact the person initiating the issue/request to discuss the problem and the possible resolutions. Within a reasonable time after the meeting, a member of our team will respond in a format accessible to the submitter. The response will offer options for a resolution.
