Important Information for Everyone

As we've had some changes in district staff, we'd like you to know who you can contact for future needs.

Lea Farris: Administrative Assistant to Learning Services
303-806-2002
Please welcome Lea Farris as our new Learning Services Administrative Assistant! Lea graduated from Cañon City High School and is excited to be back home in Colorado after a 15 year absence. She was married this spring to her high school sweetheart, making her return just that much sweeter. Lea is coming to us from New Mexico. While there, her experiences included working for the New Mexico Department of Education.

Becky Manning: Truancy Prevention Specialist
303-806-2508
Please help welcome Becky Manning to Englewood.  Becky is our new Truancy Prevention Specialist. She has had direct experience working with attendance issues in Denver Public Schools and at a Facilities School.  Becky has her Masters in Social work and she is passionate about empowering youth and families through providing assistance and a feeling of school connection.  She is excited to work with all schools on increasing attendance.  Welcome Becky!

Lori Martinez: Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Board of Education
303-806-2010
Lori Martinez is a native of Colorado having grown up in Leadville and moving to the Denver Metro area in 1993. She has worked for Englewood Schools for 17 years, starting her career as a secretary at ECE. In 2014, she accepted the position as Grants Coordinator, and most recently has taken on the role of Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and Board of Education. In her spare time, Lori enjoys spending time with her teenage son and grown daughter. Lori loves baking, sewing and especially traveling.

Gina Ochoa: Bus Driver Trainer, Scheduler and Dispatcher
303-806-2035
Regina Ochoa has been with the Transportation Department for 3 years serving primarily as a driver. She came to us from DPS with driver trainer and third party tester credentials which made her an over qualified driver, and now we have created a perfect position for her as Englewood's driver trainer, scheduler and dispatcher. Gina has 2 adult children, her son is getting married this Saturday and she recently delivered her daughter's baby in the bathtub while her husband Saul (also an Englewood bus driver and Denver pastor) relayed instructions from a 911 operator. Aside from her qualifications for the position, Gina; as she likes to be called, has an outstanding positive personality and friendly disposition. We are excited to have her on the team in her new role!

Joanna Polzin: Director of Assessment and Analytics
303-806-2013
Joanna Polzin is joining the Learning Services team as our Director of Assessment and Analytics. Joanna served most recently as an elementary school principal, and has also worked as an AP and teacher. Joanna has an extensive background teaching both primary and intermediate in private, charter, and public settings. Joanna enjoys the outdoors, triathalons, and spending time with her family. Welcome, Joanna!

Kim Venable: Director of Kid Quest
303-806-7922
We are excited to have Kim Venable take on the role of managing Kid Quest. Kim has worked for Englewood Schools for the past four years as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Operations Maintenance and Transportation. She also received the 2013/2014 Operations Support Person of the Year Award from the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association. Kim graduated from Metro State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences with a focus in Psychology and a minor in Elementary Education.

Have you logged into AESOP yet? All employees who need to report absences and/or request substitute coverage have been entered into AESOP and a "Welcome" email was sent to all on July 18th. This includes administrators, teachers, and any classified employees whose position requires a substitute.

Sub Finder was discontinued after June 30, 2015
Frontline Technologies, the provider of Aesop, purchased CRS Advanced Technology, the provider of SubFinder. This means that SubFinder was replaced by Aesop for absence reporting and substitute placement with Englewood Schools.

The login page for Aesop is:

https://www.aesoponline.com/login2.asp?id

If you didn't get and email (or you lost it :) contact Theresa Romero for assistance.

Take a look at your profile and let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Teachers, you can have your own preferences in AESOP!

In Aesop, each teacher can choose up to 5 substitutes to have on their own preference list. You can choose to have them contacted in order of your list, or randomly. Only those 5 will see the absences 100% of the time. If none of them take the job, then it will open up to the rest of the pool closer to the job. There is still no guarantee that you will get one of your preferred substitutes, but there is a better chance if a couple of weeks before the job.

Like in previous years, if you want to pre-arrange a substitute, contact your school secretary to call the sub directly and assign them. Then the secretary can add the absences and click on "save and assign" the substitute that has been contacted and has agree to work for you in your absences. I always suggested having a first, second, and third choice for your secretary. Good subs are popular.

Here are some great articles in Aesop's Learning Center for you:

http://help.frontlinek12.com/Aesop/knowledgebase/understanding-preference-lists/

Like the past years, your absences that are for Building School Business or District School Business MUST be made by your building secretary and will be approved once the correct accounting code is established for paying the substitute coverage. All of these absences automatically are emailed to your building principal and if the decision is made not to approve the absence, you will be notified.

Even more this year than last, substitutes will be hard to get. Do you know of anyone with a CDE license willing to be a substitute teacher for us? If you do, send them my way. –Theresa Romero

Our system for district printing has changed. Print Groove has been decommissioned. Our ordering system is now PrintDNA. The new system will now work on any internet browser. The preferred browsers are Chrome or Firefox. We encourage you to use the print shop for all of your printing needs. It costs the district about 1/5th the amount to print through our print shop than on school copy machines. Let us do the work for you! You will find directions on how to submit orders for printing at https://www.englewoodschools.net/Page/3428. For questions or concerns about your order, email print_shop@engschools.net.

Google has made many improvements to our Google Apps for Education. Check them out in their latest newsletter at https://goo.gl/IHfSxl
