Dear Englewood Schools Community,

The results of the November 2016 election are in! The Englewood community voted to support issues 3D and 3E, approving a $97.5 million bond and a $1.5 million mill levy override to fund the rebuilding and long-term maintenance of all Englewood elementary schools and preschool.

On behalf of our schools, and especially all Englewood students and staff, I would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you. Thank you for continually advocating for our students and schools. You did so in 2011 when you voted to rebuild our secondary schools. And you've done so once again so we can offer our elementary students the same state-of-the-art facilities that cultivate welcoming, inspiring and safe places of learning for our children.

We are very fortunate to have a supportive and thoughtful community in Englewood - one that believes in its students and is proud of its schools. Thank you to everyone involved with Citizens for Englewood Schools, the advocacy group for 3D and 3E, whose members volunteered their time to educate voters on the issues and generate support across our community. Thank you also to our parents, staff and community members who participated in the Facilities Long Range Planning Committee, engaging in a lengthy and thorough process to ensure we took the best path to addressing our schools' needs. It is your dedication that makes the future of Englewood's schools bright and something our community will continue to be proud of for generations to come.

We are now focused on moving forward swiftly and responsibly with the resources you have so generously bestowed on us. The planning for mill levy and bond-related projects will begin right away to prepare for construction as soon as school is out in May 2017. Next month, we will present a bond project timeline to our board of education, which we will make available to everyone at www.englewoodschools.net.

Today, we are celebrating this great news; tomorrow, we will start to get down to the details. If you are interested in continuing to be involved, please let us know via belongandthrive@engschools.net.

Again, thank you for supporting our schools and students. We Belong and Thrive together, ensuring our schools will inspire innovation and empower success for each and every Englewood student.

Sincerely,

Wendy Rubin, Ed.D.
