Englewood Schools is committed to the academic achievement and growth of all of our students. One way we measure students’ progress is by administering state assessments, known as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success or CMAS. As required by the state of Colorado, our students were tested using the following assessments in the spring of 2017:

  • Grades 3rd through 9th were tested in English Language Arts and Mathematics
  • Grades 5th, 8th, and 11th were tested using CMAS: Science
  • Grades 4th (Bishop and Clayton) and 7th (EMS) were tested using CMAS: Social Studies
  • Grade 10 took the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), and
  • Grade 11 was assessed using the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

Having all students in the state of Colorado take the same assessments helps us to know how our students are performing in comparison to other students in the state of Colorado. Some of the highlights from Englewood Schools data include:

  • Overall, the percentage of district 4th grade and 5th grade students who met or exceeded expectations in math increased by 5% and 4% respectively
  • The percentage of Bishop 5th graders who met or exceeded expectations in math increased by 6%
