ENGLEWOOD, CO: Englewood School District will open the first two of five school rebuilds on August 9 and 10 with ribbon cutting ceremonies and community tours. This will be the first opportunity the community at large will have to see the brand-new buildings.
Construction began on Clayton Elementary and Charles Hay World School in the summer of 2017 and is now complete in time for the beginning of the 2018 school year. The new schools are possible thanks to a $97.5 million dollar bond that Englewood residents passed in November of 2016. The bond also includes the rebuilding of Maddox Early Childhood Education Center, Cherrelyn Elementary and Bishop Elementary. All five projects will be complete by January 2020.
“We are so excited to share these beautiful new schools with our community,” said Superintendent Wendy Rubin. “The design for each school includes a lot of natural light and functional spaces that will adapt to our students’ needs for years to come,” she said.
Both Clayton and Charles Hay were designed by Wold Architect & Larson Incitti Architects, built by Fransen Pittman General Contractors and CBRE was responsible for project management.
Clayton Elementary is located at 475 W. Union Ave., Englewood CO. The grand opening will be on Thursday, August 9 at 5:30 p.m.
Charles Hay World School is located at 1121 E. Eastman Ave., Englewood CO. The grand opening will be on Friday, August 10 at 4:00 p.m.
