Dear Englewood Schools Community,
As you may be aware, this Sunday, July 14, there was an incident in Englewood that resulted in two males being shot; one was fatally injured and one was critically injured.
While police have not officially released the names of the victims, we’re aware that social media posts indicate one of the victims may be a student of Englewood Schools. We will share more information as it becomes available; however, we want to make sure we are acting now to take care of the mental health and support needs of our Englewood Schools community.
Grief and support counseling will be available to all students, parents and staff members today and tomorrow at the Englewood Campus. Englewood Schools counselors as well as counselors from All Health Network will be available today (July 15) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and tomorrow (July 16) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students, parents and staff members may access these free counseling services through the main entrance of Englewood High School.
We’d also like to provide parents and guardians with a resource that can be used to speak to students about grief and loss. Making yourself available for conversation or support is important. As parents, you provide the key for messaging with your children.
As more information is released, we will share it with you right away. Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this tragedy.
Wendy Rubin, Ed.D.
